What is Form 60 SBI?




Form 60 SBI is a declaration form that is required to be filled by a person who does not have a Permanent Account Number (PAN) and who wants to open an account or make certain transactions with the State Bank of India (SBI) or any other bank. PAN is a unique identification number issued by the Income Tax Department to every taxpayer in India. PAN is mandatory for filing income tax returns, paying taxes, and making various financial transactions.

However, some people may not have PAN for various reasons, such as they have not applied for it, they have applied but it is pending, or they are exempted from obtaining it. In such cases, they can use Form 60 SBI to provide the details of their identity, address, transaction, and reason for not having PAN. Form 60 SBI is also used to comply with the income tax rules and prevent tax evasion.


Transactions that require Form 60 SBI




According to Rule 114B of the Income Tax Rules, 1962, there are certain transactions that require quoting of PAN or submission of Form 60 SBI. Some of these transactions are:


  • Purchase or sale of any motor vehicle (except two-wheelers)



  • Opening of a bank account (except basic savings deposit account)



  • Opening of a demat account



  • Opening of an account with any banking institution or bank other than basic savings deposit account/Application to institution or bank or company for debit or credit card



  • Purchase or sale of an immovable property value of Rs. 10 lakh or above



  • A fixed deposit with any bank/post office/Nidhi/non banking financial company amount more than Rs.50,000 or aggregation of more than Rs.5 lakh during any tax year



  • Payment to restaurants or hotels in cash against the bills exceeding Rs. 50,000 at one time



  • Payment in connection with travel to any foreign country or payment for purchase of any foreign currency in cash exceeding Rs. 50,000 at one time



  • Payment of a life insurance premium exceeding Rs.50,000 in a year



  • Sale/purchase of company shares or contract for sale or purchase of securities exceeding Rs.1 lakh per transaction



How to download Form 60 SBI?




Form 60 SBI can be downloaded from the official website of the Income Tax Department or the State Bank of India. There are two methods to download Form 60 SBI:


Online method




To download Form 60 SBI online, follow these steps:


  • Visit the official website of the Income Tax Department at



  • Click on "Forms/Downloads" on the top navigation menu



  • Select "Other Forms" from the drop-down list



  • Scroll down and click on. "Form 60" under the heading "Forms for persons who do not have PAN"



  • Download the PDF file of Form 60 and save it on your device



Alternatively, you can also visit the official website of the State Bank of India at and download Form 60 from there.


Offline method




To download Form 60 SBI offline, follow these steps:


  • Visit any branch of the State Bank of India or any other bank where you want to open an account or make a transaction



  • Ask for Form 60 from the bank staff and collect it



  • Fill the form with the required details and submit it along with the proof of address



How to fill Form 60 SBI?




Filling Form 60 SBI is not very difficult if you follow the instructions given on the form. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you fill Form 60 SBI:


Step-by-step guide




  • Write your name and surname in capital letters in Part A of the form



  • Write your date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format in Part A of the form



  • Write your father's name and surname in capital letters in Part A of the form



  • Select your gender (male/female/other) by ticking the appropriate box in Part A of the form



  • Select your residential status (resident/non-resident) by ticking the appropriate box in Part A of the form



  • Select your marital status (single/married) by ticking the appropriate box in Part A of the form



  • Write your complete address with PIN code in Part A of the form



  • Select your proof of address (passport/driving license/voter ID card/Aadhaar card/ration card/utility bill/bank statement/rent agreement/employer certificate/any other document) by ticking the appropriate box in Part B of the form and attach a copy of it with the form



  • Select the type of transaction (opening a bank account/opening a demat account/opening an account with any banking institution or bank other than basic savings deposit account/application to institution or bank or company for debit or credit card/purchase or sale of an immovable property/purchase or sale of a motor vehicle/purchase or sale of company shares or contract for sale or purchase of securities/a fixed deposit/payment to restaurants or hotels/payment in connection with travel to any foreign country or payment for purchase of any foreign currency/payment of a life insurance premium/any other transaction) by ticking the appropriate box in Part C of the form and write the amount and date of transaction



  • Select the reason for not having PAN (not applied/applied but pending/exempted under section 139A(5)/any other reason) by ticking the appropriate box in Part D of the form and write the details if any other reason is selected



  • Sign or affix your thumb impression at the bottom of Part D of the form and write the date and place



  • If you are filling Form 60 SBI on behalf of someone else, write your name, address, and relationship with that person in Part E of the form and sign or affix your thumb impression at the bottom of Part E of the form and write the date and place
